Some of the most recognizable names in politics, entertainment and culture took center stage as Glitz & Girlpower celebrated its 10-year anniversary, honoring women like former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, activist Tamika Mallory, entrepreneur and television personality Yandy Smith and Grammy-nominated singer Nivea.
The milestone celebration, which stretched from Miami to Atlanta, closed out Women’s History Month with what organizers called the “biggest night for women,” bringing together leaders across industries to recognize impact, influence and legacy.
For Nivea, the moment was especially personal.
“This was my first time ever being honored and it felt like my Grammy,” she said during the celebration, a statement that quickly went viral online.
The 10-year experience was intentionally designed as a two-city celebration, starting in Miami and culminating in Atlanta. In Miami, organizers honored a group of local women making an impact across business, government and community leadership, including Miami Gardens Councilwoman Katrina Baskin, Erika Brooks, Dr. Bria Harris, Nikki Montana, Ashley Varnado, Nicole Carter, Yolanda Bradley, Dr. Natasha Weems, Rebecca Beliard, Esq., and Dr. Tamera Moodie.
For many honorees, the recognition carried deeper meaning beyond the stage.
“Receiving a commendation from the City of Miami Gardens is a moment I don’t take lightly,” one honoree shared. “This is bigger than me—this is for every woman and girl we continue to uplift.”
The Miami portion of the celebration also included Amplify HER, a kickoff event held the day before the main gala. The event not only set the tone for the week, but also helped raise funds for organizations like Girls Make Beats, which provides young girls with access to music, technology and creative development opportunities.
Organizers say that connection to the next generation is at the core of the platform’s mission.
Through its nonprofit arm, Big Dreams for Her, Glitz & Girlpower continues to create spaces where young women can learn directly from industry leaders, entrepreneurs and creatives.
“As the Founder of Big Dreams For Her and Executive Producer of Glitz & Girlpower, I remain committed to creating spaces that empower, celebrate, and elevate women everywhere,” the organization’s founder shared. “This recognition is just fuel for what’s next.”
From Miami, the celebration moved to Atlanta, where the Delta Museum served as the backdrop for the finale event. The night brought together honorees across entertainment, sports, fashion, media and business, including Toccara Jones, Coach K, Ms. Skittlez and Dr. Cheyenne Bryant.
The program featured a mix of speeches, red carpet moments and live recognition, with guest speakers like Dr. Stormy Wellington and Dr. Rashae Barnes delivering messages centered on entrepreneurship, personal growth and leadership.
“This is more than a celebration — it’s a statement,” organizers said. “A statement that women deserve to be seen, honored, and remembered for the impact they make every single day.”
Throughout the evening, speakers and honorees shared stories of resilience and purpose, reinforcing what many described as the real impact of the platform.
“When women are highlighted at this level, it gives the next generation permission to dream bigger, move boldly, and walk confidently in their purpose,” organizers said.
Now in its 10th year, Glitz & Girlpower has grown into a platform that not only celebrates women, but also builds pathways for the next generation through mentorship, exposure and access.
For those in attendance, the energy of the night reflected something bigger than awards.
“This is why we do it. This is why it matters. This is what legacy looks like,” the organization shared.
And if this year’s celebration is any indication, the movement is only getting started.
