Commissioner Krystal Patterson is inviting District 3 families to the Breaking Barriers: Back to School Clinic on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Tamarac Park Recreation Center, 7501 N. University Drive.
The event, held in partnership with AAA Urgent Care Clinic, will offer free health screenings and physicals to help local students start the school year prepared and in good health.
“This initiative is about more than just health—it’s about access, support, and showing our families that we care,” Patterson said. “By eliminating the cost and convenience barriers associated with wellness care, we’re giving our students a strong, confident start to the school year.”
In addition to medical services, families can take part in a community resource fair featuring local organizations and youth programs. The day will also kick off with a pep rally to get students excited for the year ahead and end with ice cream socials.
The free services are open to District 3 students only, with one child per household eligible. Pre-registration is required, and space is limited to the first 60 students on a first-come, first-served basis. Families can confirm their residency at tamarac.org/187 and register at events.eventnoire.com/e/back-to-school-clinic.
