City of Miami Chairwoman and District 5 Commissioner Christine King has announced a new program to help local seniors make critical home repairs and improvements.
Funded with $300,000 from King’s Miami For Everyone allocation, the District 5 Senior Home Rehabilitation Program will provide eligible seniors with grants of up to $10,000 each. The goal is to help older residents—especially those with limited incomes—continue living safely and comfortably in their homes.
“Seniors are the heart of our community and deserve respect along with our support,” King said in a statement. “We owe them at least the opportunity to live in grace and in place.”
To qualify, applicants must:
- Be 65 years or older
- Own and live in the property (with a homestead exemption)
- Have lived in the home for at least two years
- Reside in a single-family home, townhome, or condominium within the City of Miami
Applications are available at all District 5 office locations in neighborhoods including Liberty City, Little Haiti, Model City, Overtown, Wynwood/Edgewater, and the Upper East Side. Completed applications must be mailed or hand-delivered to:
