Lauderdale Lakes City Leaders Secure Key Property for Future Development

The City of Lauderdale Lakes has purchased a property at 4301 NW 48th Avenue, a move city officials say will support future community development initiatives.

The acquisition was approved during a Special City Commission Meeting on February 19, where commissioners voted unanimously to participate in the public sale. The following day, city leaders and staff secured the winning bid at a public auction.

City Manager Treasa Brown Stubbs, Assistant City Manager Peggy Castaño, Director of Finance Bobbi Williams, Director of Development Services Tanja McCoy, CRA Executive Director Celestine Dunmore, and other senior staff represented Lauderdale Lakes at the auction. Officials described the process as highly anticipated, with strategic bidding leading to a successful outcome.

“This purchase reflects our commitment to investing in projects that benefit residents and enhance the community,” Brown Stubbs said in a press release.

Mayor Veronica Edwards Phillips emphasized the role of public input in the decision. “Our residents’ voices helped shape this effort, and this acquisition creates new opportunities for community engagement and growth,” she said.

While specific plans for the site are still in development, city officials say the space will be designed with the community in mind, potentially offering areas for gatherings, educational programs, and other public services.
