District 9 Business Owners Can Apply For Vice Chairman McGhee’s 2025 Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program

Small business owners in Miami-Dade County’s District 9 have an opportunity to receive financial support through the Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program. Vice Chairman Kionne L. McGhee is encouraging eligible business owners to apply for funding aimed at helping local businesses thrive.

Applications will be available for download on the Miami-Dade County website or can be picked up in person at the Richmond Heights Business Development Hub, located at the Larcenia J. Ballard Plaza, 14508 Lincoln Blvd., Suite 210, Miami, FL 33176. The application window runs from Tuesday, Feb. 18 through Friday, Feb. 28, 2025.

To qualify, businesses must be small, for-profit entities that have been operational for at least one year and are located within District 9. Grant funds, which can be up to $5,000 per business, may be used for expenses such as supplies, equipment, liability insurance, minor renovations, advertising, and professional services, including accounting, seminars, and events.

Prospective applicants must attend a mandatory informational meeting via Zoom on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025, at 6 p.m. The meeting will cover application procedures and eligibility criteria. While attendance is required, it does not guarantee funding, and applicants are advised to wait until after the meeting to complete their applications.

Completed applications must be hand-delivered in a sealed envelope to the Richmond Heights Business Development Hub between March 3 and March 7 by 4 p.m. Late submissions will not be accepted.

The Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program was established to provide financial and technical assistance to small businesses. It is administered in collaboration with Miami-Dade County Commissioners’ offices to support local entrepreneurs in sustaining and growing their businesses.
