The City and the SBA aim to empower local businesses by providing direct access to experts, resources and support networks.
The City of Fort Lauderdale welcomes the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for a town hall on July 22, 2024, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce located at 512 NE 3rd Avenue.
The town hall will offer our small business community an opportunity to engage with key stakeholders and experts.
“We are delighted to host the SBA town hall in Fort Lauderdale,” said Acting City Manager Susan Grant in a press release. “This event underscores our commitment to supporting our local small businesses and entrepreneurs. We invite everyone to join us for what promises to be an informative and empowering session.”
Attendees can participate in a fireside chat featuring SBA Regional Administrator of Region IV Allen Thomas. Thomas will share valuable insights into the SBA’s critical role, resources available to small businesses and upcoming trends in the industry.
“Small businesses are the engines of the nation’s economy, and that engine is running strong,” said Thomas in a press release. “The small business ecosystem is experiencing a sustained startup boom across the country with the first, second and third strongest years of new business application rates on record starting in 2021. Leveraging our relationships with local governments like the City of Fort Lauderdale not only gives us a terrific opportunity to educate the public about the impactful products and services provided by the SBA, but it also gives us another venue for listening to the wants, needs and concerns of America’s entrepreneurs.”
Esteemed speakers joining Thomas include Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Housing and Economic Development Manager Eleni Ward-Jankovic who will highlight local programs and incentives along with Development Services Department (DSD) Deputy Director Alfred “Al” Battle who will talk about departmental responsibilities and contributions to Fort Lauderdale’s growth.
DSD will also hold a special presentation to demonstrate the vital support offered by Business Assistance Coordinators to new/aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners. There will also be an interactive Q&A session with resource partners such as the Urban League of Broward County, Black Business Investment Fund, and TD Bank, among others.
The SBA town hall is set to inspire new strategies and collaborations that will propel local businesses towards success and global recognition. To register for the SBA town hall, visit https://shorturl.at/HZzM5.
