Lou Foundation Inc. Marks 10 Years of Turning Trauma, Grief and Loss Into Community Impact with Annual All White Affair

What began with the loss of a 2-year-old boy has grown into a decade-long effort to support families and communities navigating grief, child loss, cancer and domestic violence.

Lou Foundation Inc. will celebrate its 10th anniversary with the 10th Annual All White Affair on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the FGJJ Community Center, 690 NE 159th St. in Miami.

The Foundation was established by Dr. Fabiola Constant and Vince Constant following the death of their 2½-year-old son, Lou. As the family worked through their own grief while helping their other children cope with the loss of their brother, the experience became the foundation for a broader mission of helping others navigate trauma, loss and difficult life circumstances.

Ten years later, that mission continues through programs, resources, outreach and community support for youth, individuals and families.

“Lou’s life may have been short, but his impact continues to reach people 10 years later,” Dr. Fabiola Constant, co-founder of Lou Foundation Inc., said in a press release. “As his mother, there is something powerful about seeing his life continue to bring people together and create purpose beyond our own family.”

Constant said the 10-year milestone also represents a continuation of the work inspired by her son’s life.

“This milestone is not where the work ends,” she said in the press release. “It reminds us why we keep showing up, why we keep building and why Lou’s legacy must continue reaching the people who need us next.”

A decade of community support

The October gala serves as both a fundraiser and a gathering point for communities connected by experiences that can often be deeply personal and difficult to navigate alone.

For Lou Foundation, October is an opportunity to raise awareness around child loss, cancer and domestic violence while creating space for people to connect and have their experiences recognized.

The annual event typically draws between 150 and 300 attendees and will feature a formal dinner, live entertainment, music, guest speakers, a mini fashion show, honoree and nominee recognitions, awards and micro-grants.

Funds raised through the event help support the Foundation’s work throughout the year, including Lou’s Healing Pages, a youth-focused program; Lotus Bloom Gathering, a support group; and BMoms Love Brunch, which serves people experiencing homelessness.

The 10th Annual All White Affair is open to community members, businesses and organizations interested in attending, sponsoring or supporting the Foundation’s work.
