Miami-Dade County Vice Chairman Kionne L. McGhee is encouraging small business owners in District 9 to apply for the 2026 Mom and Pop Small Business Grant Program, which offers eligible businesses up to $5,000 in funding.
The annual grant program is designed to help small businesses cover expenses that support growth and long-term sustainability. Funding can be used for inventory and supplies, business equipment, advertising, liability insurance, minor renovations, and security systems.
Applications will be available beginning Monday, Sept. 21, and can be downloaded from the Miami-Dade County website or picked up in person at the Richmond Heights Business Development Hub, located at Larcenia J. Ballard Plaza, 14508 Lincoln Blvd., Suite 210, in Miami. Applications will be available through Friday, Oct. 2.
To qualify, applicants must own a small for-profit business that has operated for at least one year and be located within Miami-Dade County Commission District 9.
Business owners interested in applying are encouraged to attend an informational workshop via Zoom on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 6 p.m. The workshop will provide details about the application process and funding requirements.
Completed applications must be submitted in person in a sealed envelope at the Richmond Heights Business Development Hub between Oct. 5 and Oct. 9 by 4 p.m. County officials said late applications will not be accepted.
District 9 includes communities across South Miami-Dade, and the grant program is intended to provide local entrepreneurs with additional resources to invest in and strengthen their businesses.
