From school supplies and educational programs to health services and family fun, the annual event helps Miami-Dade families prepare for the new school year.
Thousands of Miami-Dade County families gathered on August 3rd for the 18th Annual The Children’s Trust Family Expo, the county’s largest free back-to-school family resource event. Bringing together thousands of parents, caregivers, and children under one roof, the Expo provided a one-stop destination for families to prepare for the upcoming school year with free resources, essential services, and a full day of family-friendly entertainment.
Hosted at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo with both indoor and outdoor experiences, the Family Expo featured over 100 exhibitors representing after-school programs, health care providers, nonprofit organizations, and community partners. Families connected with organizations offering educational resources to help families prepare for the start of the 2026-2027 school year.

“The Family Expo is a trusted tradition for Miami-Dade families, bringing together the resources, services, and support children need to thrive in school and beyond,” said James R. Haj, president & CEO of The Children’s Trust, in a press statement. “As we celebrate the Family Expo’s 18th year, we’ve expanded opportunities for families to learn, connect, and prepare for the future. From collecting school supplies and participating in interactive activities to exploring college and career readiness resources, the Family Expo offers something for every family at every stage of a child’s educational journey.”
Throughout the day, children enjoyed interactive experiences including face painting, balloon artists, character appearances, food trucks, and hands-on activities like the new Scavenger Hunt that encouraged attendees to explore the Expo while collecting stickers to complete their event map. Also new this year, the College Readiness section provided teens and their families with guidance and resources to help them explore postsecondary pathways, including college, trade school training and direct entry into the workforce.

The Family Expo continues to serve as one of Miami-Dade County’s signature community events, connecting families with trusted organizations and resources that support children’s health, education, safety, and overall well-being throughout the year.
The event was made possible through the generous support of community partners, including Gold sponsors, EdFed Credit Union, Pediatric Skin Research, UHealth Children’s Care Jackson, and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Silver sponsors are Baptist Health, The Miami Herald, El Nuevo Herald, Uber, and Webauthor.com.
