Delvin King, Broward County School Director, References Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat” to Call Out Alleged Illegal Rental of District Facilities

A Broward County school director turned an investigation into the alleged illegal rental of district facilities into a viral moment during a recent public meeting, repurposing lyrics from rap star Yung Miami to call out suspected corruption.

Delvin King, speaking in an official capacity regarding an ongoing district probe, used the platform to address allegations that employees have been pocketing unauthorized cash payments via mobile apps for the illicit use of school gymnasiums.

“Are you checking the Zelle? Check your Zelle,” King told the room, referencing the digital payment network. “You need to check your Zelle, because people are getting Zelle payments.”

To drive his point home, King invoked the music of South Florida hip-hop artist Yung Miami, modifying the luxury-themed lyrics of her single “Spend Dat” to target alleged bad actors within the school system. Footage of the presentation has since circulated widely online, including in a Facebook video.

“So I’m reminded of a song by Yung Miami, and if Yung Miami was here today, she would say, ‘Where all my scamming school board employees at spending that money fast, 20s, 50s, hundreds, cash,'” King said in the video.

He then took direct aim at specific individuals, weaving their names into his rendition of the song.

“Rachel Dailey, go in that go-yard bag, boosting employees where y’all at stuffing those facilities in y’all bags, just to flip it and pop some tags,” King continued.

Turning back to the specific findings of the official district review, King laid out detailed financial records tracking unauthorized transactions tied to school property.

“Um, I want to read something from a report on May 19,” King said, detailing the paper trail. “Coach McNabb received a Zelle payment of $1,350 from MJM Sports for the use of Blanche Lee High School basketball gym on May 17 and 18th.”

According to the district documentation cited by King, the illicit activity was not an isolated incident.

“On June 3, Coach McNabb received a Zelle payment of $675 for the use of another basketball gym,” King added towards the end of his speech.

The district maintains policies regarding public corruption and the unauthorized personal use of public facilities. School board officials did not immediately return requests for comment regarding the specific allegations or King’s presentation.
