Hy-Lo News Launches First-Ever Political Survey to Gauge South Florida Voter Sentiment; Here’s What The Results Are Telling Us So Far

As South Florida heads into what is shaping up to be one of the most consequential political seasons in recent memory, Hy-Lo News is stepping into a new lane.

This Black-owned woman-owned hyperlocal news outlet has officially launched our first-ever political survey, giving residents an opportunity to weigh in on some of the region’s most closely watched races and issues while helping provide a snapshot of where voters stand ahead of election season.

The survey is designed to gather community sentiment directly from the people who live, work and vote in South Florida. NOTE: All of the races are HYPOTHETICAL match ups based on community chatter. ONLY the City of Miami Gardens candidates have qualified and will be on the ballot. Once qualifying happens we’ll do an updated poll.

“If you had to vote today, who would YOU choose?” we asked asked followers on social media while encouraging residents to participate in the survey and share it throughout their networks.

The survey is open to the public and is being distributed through social media, email and community outreach efforts. Participants are encouraged to share the questionnaire with friends, family members, neighbors, church members, educators, business owners and anyone else interested in helping shape the conversation around South Florida politics.

The initiative marks an expansion of Hy-Lo News’ civic engagement and political coverage efforts, which have become a cornerstone of the publication’s reporting over the past decade. The outlet regularly covers local government, elections, policy decisions and community issues impacting Black and Brown Millennials throughout South Florida.

The survey is not intended to be a scientific poll but rather a community pulse check that can help identify trends, concerns and candidate momentum among engaged residents.

We’ll be sharing the results publicly when the survey closes and writing articles to explain the results.

The launch comes as several major races are beginning to take shape across South Florida, including an expected battle for Congressional District 24 following the announcement that longtime U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson will not seek reelection.

Hy-Lo News plans to publish articles, analysis and data-driven stories based on survey responses throughout the election cycle.

As political conversations heat up across South Florida, Hy-Lo News is betting that residents want more than campaign ads and social media rumors — they want a chance to have their voices heard. And if early engagement on Hy-Lo News social media pages is any indication, voters are ready to talk.

Editor’s Note: Results from the Hy-Lo News Political Survey will be published after the survey period closes. Hy-Lo News encourages participants to complete the survey only once and answer questions honestly to help ensure the most accurate community snapshot possible.

Check out what some of the results have been so far for our poll. You still have time to take our survey before this one closes on Thursday June 4th. All results will be revealed LIVE during our Can We Talk Podcast. Hy-Lo New will be conducting more surveys throughout this election season.
