The Overtown Children and Youth Coalition (OCYC) is bringing the energy back this spring with the return of its 7th annual “I’m the Boss of My Life” Youth Conference—an all-day experience designed to pour into Miami-Dade’s next generation of leaders.
Set for Friday, April 3, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, the conference will gather youth from across the county for a powerful mix of workshops, mentorship, and hands-on learning, according to a press statement.
Now in its seventh year, the conference has grown into one of the county’s standout youth development events. Organizers said last year’s gathering brought out more than 340 young people representing over 20 organizations—from Miami Gardens to Homestead—creating a space filled with ambition, collaboration and future-focused thinking.
That momentum is expected to continue this year, with dozens of mentors and professionals leading sessions centered on leadership, wellness and career readiness. The goal: to give young people real tools, real connections and real confidence as they navigate their next steps.

Anthony Robinson, executive director of OCYC, said in a statement that the conference is about more than just one day—it’s about long-term impact.
“The ‘I’m the Boss of My Life’ Youth Conference is more than a one-day event—it’s a movement,” Robinson said. “We are intentional about equipping young people with the confidence, skills and connections they need to take ownership of their lives and future. Each year, we see the impact as youth leave inspired, empowered and ready to lead.”
Throughout the day, attendees can expect an opening ceremony, keynote address, interactive workshops, career and leadership activities, wellness sessions, networking opportunities and a closing celebration.
From exploring career paths and entrepreneurship to building self-confidence and learning practical life skills, the conference is designed to meet young people where they are—and push them toward where they want to be.
Students across Miami-Dade are encouraged to register and take advantage of the opportunity, with free transportation available from select communities for those who sign up.
