Funky Dineva Defends Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Set, Calls for Solidarity Within Black and Latino Communities

In a recent YouTube video, Miami-bred media personality Funky Dineva has issued a stern challenge to his audience following the 2026 Super Bowl LX halftime show.

Dineva praised the Puerto Rican superstar for his uncompromising approach to the global stage.

“I love the fact from start to finish, he didn’t speak a lick of English,” Dineva remarked. “He did not begin to try to bend, fold, acquiesce, mold, and or accommodate anyone. He said, ‘Here is me. Me is here in my full Puerto Rican glory, and y’all could do two things: y’all could get into it, or you could make it enough.'”

Labeling the artist “Bad Bunny Luther King,” Dineva suggested that the message of the performance transcended literal translation. “I didn’t understand what he said, but I understood what was said. And more importantly, the establishment understood what was said.”

A significant portion of Dineva’s commentary was directed at Black critics who complained that the show did not cater to them. He drew a direct parallel to Kendrick Lamar’s 2022 performance and how it centered Black artistry and culture.

He cautioned against a “monopoly on oppression,” urging his viewers to recognize that other marginalized groups deserve the same platform for their struggles.

Dineva also aimed at conservative counter-programming, specifically citing Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show. He argued that the vitriol from the “MAGA crowd” only served to bolster Bad Bunny’s success, resulting in a staggering 135.4 million views.

“Y’all created so much fuss about this Bad Bunny show that you springboarded him into the highest-rated Super Bowl performance of all time,” he noted, invoking a biblical warning about “digging ditches.” He explained that by making a “stink” over the performance, critics ensured that both “the lovers and the haters” tuned in.

The YouTube video segment concludes with Dineva’s plea for Black and Latino unity. He reminded his audience of the shared lineage and common political battles both groups have faced in the current American climate.

“Puerto Rico is a part of the United States. Puerto Ricans have African ancestry,” he said. “They might look a certain way and speak Spanish, but on the inside, they are just like us. Cut the divisiveness and let’s stand next to our brothers and sisters.”

Dineva’s final message to the detractors was simple: “Stand down. Everything doesn’t have to be tailored specifically for you. If you think that way, you’re no better than the people you complain about.”
