Community Partners Rally With $400k Donation to Boost Feeding South Florida’s Hunger-Relief Efforts

South Florida Kia Dealers, in partnership with the Miami HEAT, Miami Dolphins, JM Family Enterprises and JM&A Group, have collectively donated $400,000 to Feeding South Florida to support hunger-relief efforts across the region.

The donation will help advance Feeding South Florida’s mission to combat food insecurity in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties by expanding access to nutritious food, supporting innovative programs and strengthening advocacy efforts.

Of the total contribution, South Florida Kia Dealers donated $150,000 through Kia’s “Accelerate the Good” charitable initiative. Launched in 2019, the program has contributed more than $40 million nationwide to support communities through both national campaigns and local partnerships.

JM Family Enterprises and its subsidiary JM&A Group donated $100,000, while the remaining $150,000 came from the Miami HEAT and Miami Dolphins.

Representatives from the participating organizations formally presented the donation to Feeding South Florida President and CEO Paco Vélez during a check presentation ceremony held Dec. 16 at the nonprofit’s Pembroke Park warehouse. Attendees included representatives from South Florida Kia Dealers, Rita Case of the Rick Case Automotive Group, Percy Vaughn, director of Southern Regional Operations for Kia America, as well as representatives from the Miami HEAT, Miami Dolphins, and JM Family Enterprises and JM&A Group.

Feeding South Florida provides food assistance to children, seniors, veterans and single-parent households throughout its four-county service area. According to the organization, every $1 donated helps provide four nutritious meals to individuals and families in need.

The $400,000 contribution is expected to support a range of services, including food distribution, home delivery programs and initiatives such as the Mobile FARMacy and culinary training programs.

“We are incredibly grateful to South Florida Kia Dealers and the Miami HEAT, Miami Dolphins, and JM Family Enterprises and JM&A Group for this generous donation,” Vélez said in a press statement. “This contribution comes at a critical time, especially during the holiday season, when many families are struggling to make ends meet.”

Vélez said Feeding South Florida is currently seeing an increased demand for services, with more than 1.2 million people across South Florida in need of nutritious food as inflation, rising housing and fuel costs, and other economic pressures continue to strain household budgets.

“Together, we are helping ease families’ financial burden and provide hope this holiday season,” he said.
