Meet the Black American and Caribbean Authors Taking Space at This Year’s Miami Book Fair

The Miami Book Fair is returning with one of its most robust celebrations of Black literary excellence yet — spotlighting American and Caribbean authors whose stories, scholarship, and creativity continue to shape culture across generations. For South Florida’s Black and Brown readers, this year’s lineup brings powerful conversations, hometown talent, and global perspectives under one festival umbrella.

Spotlight on Black American & Caribbean Authors

This year’s programming highlights a cross-section of acclaimed thinkers, historians, poets, and storytellers, including:

  • Dr. Edda L. Fields-Black, a Miami native, historian, and author of Combee: Harriet Tubman, the Combahee River Raid, and Black Freedom during the Civil War. Fields-Black will appear alongside her mother, Dr. Dorothy Jenkins Fields, in a special mother-daughter conversation honoring their cultural and historical contributions. Event link
