Island SPACE Caribbean Museum Marks 5 Years With Star-Studded “FIYAH!” Anniversary Gala

Keynote speaker Marlon Hill Esq., along with gala hosts Papa Keith and Neki Mohan, will connect passion with mission while guiding gala guests on an immersive cultural journey.

The Island SPACE Caribbean Museum is celebrating five years of preserving and showcasing Caribbean culture in South Florida with its 5th Anniversary Gala, Milestones: FIYAH! Fashion. Folklore. Future.

The black-tie event takes place Sunday, October 26, 2025, at 5 p.m. at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa and will feature an electrifying mix of culture, music, and community pride.

Hosted by Papa Keith and Neki Mohan, the evening will include performances by Delou Africa Dance Ensemble, LaVie, and a spoken word “Clash of Cultures” featuring Dominican, Jamaican, and Haitian poets. The lineup also includes steelpan music by Melo Groove Steel Orchestra, Caribbean folklore by Brukins Entertainment, and an afterparty set with DJ GQ of SiriusXM and Y100.

A line up of cultural, fashion and music talent will put on a rich and dynamic show at Island SPACE Caribbean Museum’s 5th Anniversary FIYAH! Gala.

A $1 Million Mission

Beyond the glamour, the gala will launch Island SPACE’s $1 million fundraising campaign, which aims to sustain operations, expand staff capacity, and lay the groundwork for a new, state-of-the-art museum space by 2027.

“Public arts dollars are shrinking just as our impact grows,” said David I. Muir, the museum’s co-founder, in a press release. “This evening is an embodiment of the cultural work we’ve done over the past five years and a prelude to the path along which we see our future unfolding.”

Keynote speaker Marlon Hill, a respected attorney and Caribbean cultural advocate, will speak on the importance of community-driven institutions that preserve diaspora heritage and inspire future generations.

Supporters can contribute through a silent auction, a “Buy-a-Brick” building fund campaign, in-event donations, or anytime online at islandspacefl.org.

Honoring Community Icons

During the evening, Island SPACE will present its ICON Awards to community leaders Commissioner Hazelle Rogers, Braulio Rosa, Gepsie Metellus, and Lesly Simon for their longstanding impact on South Florida’s Caribbean and multicultural communities.

Sponsors for this year’s gala include the Broward County Cultural Division, Barbados, Island TV, Accordia Shipping, the Broward Bar Association, the Jamaica Tourist Board, and the African American Research Library and Cultural Center.

A Night of Culture and Celebration

From steelpan melodies to avant-garde Caribbean couture, Milestones: FIYAH! promises an unforgettable showcase of fashion, folklore, and future vision—celebrating both Island SPACE’s journey and the vibrant community it represents.

Tickets and sponsorship information are available at islandspacefl.org/fiyah.
