The City of North Miami is preparing to host its annual Teach to Fish North Miami Business Summit, a three-day event designed to provide small business owners with resources, connections, and funding opportunities.
Now in its fourth year, the summit will take place October 12–14, 2025, at the Kovens Conference Center on Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus.
Organized by North Miami Vice Mayor Kassandra Timothe in partnership with the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the event has become a hub for entrepreneurs in search of tools to strengthen and expand their businesses.
This year’s agenda includes networking opportunities, hands-on workshops, and the first-ever Teach to Fish Pitch Competition, where entrepreneurs will compete for a $5,000 business grant. The competition is part of a new initiative in partnership with the CRA that will award 20 grants of $5,000 each to eligible local businesses within the CRA boundaries.
“Teach to Fish is about equipping our small businesses with not only resources, but also the confidence and networks to succeed long term,” said Vice Mayor Timothe in a press release. “This Summit is where bold moves begin — and where North Miami businesses chart their future.”
Highlights of the summit include:
- Business & Bubbles Reception (Oct. 12): A kickoff event for entrepreneurs to network with investors, community leaders, and peers.
- Workshops & Sessions (Oct. 13): Interactive programming focused on revenue growth, marketing, and operations.
- Motion & Mastery Luncheon + Pitch Competition (Oct. 14): A keynote fireside chat on leadership and innovation, followed by the live pitch competition.
The Teach to Fish Summit was launched to foster innovation and economic resilience in North Miami by connecting entrepreneurs with resources and capital.
