Miami is set to host the nation’s premier celebration of golf, culture, and community this Labor Day weekend as Urban Golf Weekend (UGW) tees off August 29–31 across iconic city venues including Eden Roc Miami Beach, Miami Beach Golf Club, and Miami Marina.
Founded to make golf more inclusive and accessible, UGW blends networking, cultural experiences, and a charity golf tournament that supports HBCU golf scholarships. In previous years, the event has donated $10,000 each to Fore Life and FAMU, with this year’s partnerships expanding to the Future Leaders of Hospitality and Tourism, the Overtown Children & Youth Coalition, and Booker T. Washington Senior High School.
“Urban Golf Weekend is about more than a swing—it’s about building bridges, breaking barriers, and creating a space where everyone feels welcome on the course,” said founder Clifton Addison in a press release. “Golf is our backdrop, but our mission is about representation, access, and leaving a legacy that will outlast us all.”
The three-day event offers programming for both beginners and seasoned golfers. Highlights include fireside chats with industry leaders, CEO panels on leadership and strategy, interactive wealth-building sessions, and networking events. Notable sessions include:
- Owning Your Swing: Faith, Focus & Fearlessness as a Woman of Color in Business with Monique Rodriguez of Mielle Organics.
- Elevation: A CEO Conversation on Focus, Leadership & the Fairway, moderated by NBC6 anchor Jawan Strader.
- Ask Your Millionaire Mentor, an interactive session offering practical strategies for wealth-building.
- Founders in Golf: Breaking Barriers & Building Legacy, spotlighting entrepreneurs reshaping the golf industry.
