District 1 Students Showcase Athleticism and Teamwork at Dr. Steve Gallon’s 3rd Annual Field Day Competition

Fourth and fifth-grade students from District 1 elementary schools gathered on March 4 for the 3rd Annual District 1 Field Day Competition, an event hosted by School Board Member Dr. Steve Gallon III. The competition featured a series of athletic challenges, including a jump rope contest, sack race, hurdle race, 100-yard dash, and a tug-of-war showdown. Each participating elementary school in District 1 selected 10 students to represent their school.

“The 3rd Annual District 1 Field Day provided an exciting and enjoyable experience for elementary school students throughout District 1 to compete in various athletic events,” said Dr. Gallon. “From tug-of-war to track races to sack races, the students, along with their school coaches, staff, and principals, demonstrated a positive spirit of teamwork, collaboration, and sportsmanship.”

Adding to the excitement, Olympic Gold Medalist Tee Tee Terry attended the event, sharing words of encouragement and inspiration with the young athletes. Dr. Gallon expressed gratitude to Terry and all the individuals and partners who contributed to making the event a success.

The competition concluded with Carol City Elementary School emerging as the District 1 Field Day champions.
