The City of Miami marked a significant milestone in affordable housing as Chairwoman and District Five Commissioner Christine King hosted a key ceremony for first-time homebuyer Adline Dorima and her family on Monday, October 21. The event, held at 10:30 a.m., celebrated the family’s purchase of a twin home made possible through down payment assistance loans provided by the City of Miami and Miami-Dade County.
“Today, we welcome the Dorima family to their new home, marking another milestone in my mission to create REAL affordable housing in Miami,” said Chairwoman King in a press release. She emphasized that providing first-time homeownership opportunities helps build generational wealth and achieve the American Dream for families in District Five.
The newly constructed two-story twin home features four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Built by Housing Programs, Inc., a local builder with over a decade of experience in affordable housing projects across Miami-Dade County, the property sits on a previously vacant parcel conveyed to the builder by the county. The home was sold for $394,000, with the family’s household income at 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) qualifying them for the purchase.
The initiative is part of Miami’s ongoing efforts to expand affordable housing and support homeownership among low- and moderate-income families. For more information on the City of Miami’s First-time Homebuyer Program, visit www.miamigov.com/FTHB.
