In honor of Hip Hop’s 50th birthday, the City of Miami recently recognized some local Rap legends for their contributions to the genre.
“Here’s to the pioneers, the storytellers, and the beats that continue to echo through the streets,” said Chairwoman Christine King in an Instagram post. “Hip Hop isn’t just a genre – it’s a movement that continues to break barriers, amplify voices and bridge divides.”
Music moguls Trick Daddy, C.O. and Ted Lucas received a distinguished proclamation from the city honoring them for not only their musical accolades, but also for the work they’ve done in the community.
We’d also love to shout out pioneers like Uncle Luke, JT Money, Trina and Jacki-O (just to name a few) for putting Miami on the map and for showing Hip Hop that the South got something to say!
