The Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board (CRB) received recognition for its 60th anniversary during the Oct. 3 Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners meeting. Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III, County Commissioners, and Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, presented a proclamation designating Tuesday, October 3, 2023, as “Community Relations Board Day.” Law enforcement agencies and community partners joined the CRB members and staff to celebrate this significant milestone. The CRB was founded in 1963 and its primary mission is to intervene and contain community tensions, as quickly as possible. The CRB’s secondary mission is to work proactively to identify and relieve intergroup conflicts before crises arise; to develop bridges of understanding and support programs in the community; to foster understanding, communication, and mutual respect; to develop and support local or city-based Community Relations Boards throughout the County; and to assure that resources are in place to respond to community crises.
