DJ Khaled Announced 2023 Collaboration with Jordan Brand, Plans for New Album and More At Packed Press Conference on Miami Beach

Super Producer Honored With 2 Keys to the City

Standing in front of a packed room at the Mr. Chow’s Miami Beach, Hip-Hop super producer, DJ Khaled, announced major plans for 2023 that add to his empire in the music and entertainment industry.

On February 9th, at an invite only press conference, DJ Khaled held his We The Best press conference and he felt that it was necessary to announce his big achievements in his hometown, Miami.

“The definition of winning is to keep winning, ” said Khaled, a multi Grammy winning producer and entrepreneur.

The family-oriented music mogul shared his partnership with DEF Jam Records to produce his next album, and his new role at Universal Music Group as a global creative consultant for artists worldwide for both UMG & DEF Jam. With his new roles, DJ Khaled will not only be working in music, but he will also expand his work to include marketing, film, TV, and more creative outlets.

“We coming with some big hit records and we ain’t playing,” said Khaled, after expressing that he is inspired, and that’s how he creates music. 

Universal Music Group and the DEF Jam team shared they are excited to have DJ Khaled as a part of their family.

“Khaled occupies the rarefied air of culture icon, and we are thrilled at DEF Jam to partner with DJ Khaled and the We The Best family both as a multi-platinum award-winning artist and as a valued executive,” said Tunji Balogun, Chairman and CEO of Def Jam Records.

Latrice Burnette, the Executive Vice President of Def Jam Recordings also shared with the crowd that she is thrilled to have DJ Khaled back home and can’t wait to see what he cooks up next.

DJ Khaled also announced another collaboration with the Jumpman Jordan brand. He expressed how being a part of the Jordan family is a dream come true because with Jordans are his favorite shoes to wear. His 2022 Jordan release, made brand history, as it was the largest collaborator the brand has ever seen.  With 2023 being proclaimed the “Jordan Year,” Khaled and The Jordan brand will have another collaboration coming sometime this year.

“Khaled is the essence of the brand. He personifies it, he’s competitive, he’s loyal, he’s authentic,” said The Vice President of Jordan Brand, Reggie Saunders.

Saunders and mentioned that over the last two years, the Jordan team has donated $16.95 million to more than 75 non-profits, with the We The Best Foundation being one of those recipients. During the event We The Best Foundation also announced a scholarship program that will partner with Roc Nation. This year’s scholarship recipient went to Felisha Agenor, a high school senior, who will be graduating with a 4.2 GPA.

In addition to all the major announcements, DJ Khaled shared that he will also launch a We The Best Snipes store that will open on Collins Avenue on Miami Beach later this year. Khaled said the store will be nothing less than great and it will have a unique and fun shopping experience with a live DJ,  a sound booth for an up-and-coming artists, and will give local Miami designers a chance to showcase their designs.

Even with all these dope announcements, the event highlight was DJ Khaled receiving two keys to the city. One key was present by the City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who proclaimed Feb. 9th “We The Best” day. Khaled’s second key to the city was given to him by the City of Miami Beach. City officials proclaimed November 26th to be “Khaled Day.”

Mayor Suarez praised, DJ Khaled, by using his hit song God Did! as a reference. He said God did show up in Khaled’s life and has touched him and his family.

“You show that God has done it in your life,” said Mayor Suarez.
