Hy-Lo News Staff Report
Snob beauty box and the Roots Black House have teamed up to create community refrigerators to help bridge the gap in hunger caused by the pandemic. Located in Liberty City in front of the Roots Black House showroom, the group of Millennials have packed a frig for kids and adults to take the items they want.
In an email statement, Roots Black House and Snob Beauty Box founders said, “During this time, children and adults aren’t getting the proper nutrients and meals needed daily to stay healthy and strong. Transportation is an issue for some, so this where the community refrigerator/ pantry comes in to play.”
The FREE-dge (a nickname given to the refrigerator), is easy to access via walking and has perishable and non-perishable items available to the public.

“We will be more than grateful for your help so we can reach many more communities over time.,” said Sherina Jones on social media, owner of Snob Beauty Box. “Support from other resources and businesses will be so heartwarming and appreciated. We are all in this together. We can do it.”
The core of the Roots Collective has always been to build unity in their communities.
“We are so excited to announce that we have launched the first of many Community Refrigerators in collaboration with @snobbeautybox_ at our shop the @rootsblackhouse . Free food is available to community members 24/7. Artist have began painting the fridge or and community members have begun donate perishable and non perishable items as well as financial contributions,” said the owners of Roots Black House, Danny Agnew and Isaiah Thomas, in an email release.
The three people responsible for the free community fridge, Danny Agnew, Isaiah Thomas and Sherina Jones, were featured by the Miami Herald for their efforts to feed the community.
