Passionate Care Services LLC creates new opportunities for inclusion, confidence and community involvement.
A new cheerleading team in Palm Beach County is creating opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to build confidence, form friendships and get involved in their community.
Passionate Care Services LLC, a nonprofit organization based in Boca Raton, has launched a 15-member adult community cheerleading team through its adult day training center. The team will perform at local high school sporting events and community celebrations throughout Palm Beach County.
The team has appearances scheduled with the Miracle League, Keiser University, Dwyer High School and Palm Beach Lakes High School.
According to the organization, the initiative aims to address the limited opportunities some adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities have to participate in community activities.
National Core Indicators data cited by Passionate Care Services shows that only one in four adults surveyed participates in community groups, while more than one in three would like to become more involved.
Through the cheerleading team, participants can learn new skills, develop relationships and represent their community at local events.

“Our community cheer team is about much more than performances,” said Michelle Scott, founder and CEO of Passionate Care Services LLC, in a press statement. “It’s about belonging. Every member deserves the chance to wear a uniform, be part of a team, and hear the crowd cheering for them.”
Scott said the organization hopes the team will encourage others to recognize the abilities of people with disabilities and create more opportunities for inclusion throughout the community.
The launch adds another way for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Palm Beach County to participate in local activities and build connections beyond their day training center.
Passionate Care Services said additional appearances will be announced as community support for the team grows.
