State Senate District 34 Candidate Christine Sanon-Jules says Education and Community Advocacy have Prepared her to Serve in Tallahassee

The Democratic candidate discusses her background as an educator, her commitment to public service and why she believes District 34 needs leadership rooted in the community.

For Christine Sanon-Jules, public service has always been centered on education, advocacy and creating opportunities for families.

During an interview on Hy-Lo News’ Can We Talk podcast, the Democratic candidate for Florida Senate District 34 shared how her experience as an educator, community advocate and mother has shaped her campaign and the priorities she hopes to bring to Tallahassee.

“I am running to be your next state senator for District 34,” Sanon-Jules said. “I’m an educator, an advocate and a proud mom.”

Sanon-Jules, formerly Christine Olivo, said her educational background reflects her commitment to lifelong learning. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public administration, a master’s degree in business and is pursuing a second master’s degree in public administration.

She said those experiences, combined with years of community involvement, have given her the skills necessary to tackle the challenges facing residents throughout the district.

Throughout the conversation, Sanon-Jules emphasized that leadership should begin with listening to residents and ensuring government remains accessible to the people it serves.

She said too many families are struggling with rising costs, limited resources and barriers to opportunity, adding that elected officials should focus on practical solutions that improve quality of life.

Sanon-Jules also highlighted the importance of investing in education, describing schools as the foundation for stronger communities and future economic success. She said supporting students, educators and families must remain a priority for state lawmakers.

Beyond education, she said she hopes to be a strong advocate for policies that expand opportunity, strengthen neighborhoods and ensure every resident has a voice in the legislative process.

Throughout the interview, Sanon-Jules presented herself as a collaborative leader who values transparency and accountability, saying meaningful change comes from working directly with the people most affected by public policy.

She encouraged voters to look beyond campaign slogans and evaluate candidates based on their record of service, accessibility and commitment to the community.

As Election Day approaches, Sanon-Jules said she hopes voters will support a campaign focused on service, advocacy and delivering results for District 34.

Florida’s primary election is scheduled for Aug. 18. Voters in State Senate District 34 will choose their party’s nominee, with the winner advancing to the general election.
