MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
Thursday, June 18
Liberty City Reads Summer Literacy Activation
Time: 9 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Location: Marshall L. Davis Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, Miami
Children and youth ages 4-18 can enjoy literacy-focused activities, storytelling, books, and creative engagement experiences as part of Liberty City Reads’ “Bringing Literacy Home” initiative.
Towners & Tornados Fundraiser Game Night
Time: 6 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Location: Center for Black Innovation & Dunns Overtown Farm
This community fundraiser benefits Booker T. Washington Senior High School’s Centennial Celebration and features dominos, spades, music, food, raffles and fellowship.
Friday, June 19 (Juneteenth)
Legacy In Black: A Juneteenth Gala
Location: Sport of Kings Theater at Gulfstream Park
Miami Gardens leaders Katrina Wilson, Vice Mayor Robert Stephens III and Councilman Reggie Leon host the city’s sixth annual Juneteenth Gala. The evening features legendary R&B singer Jeffrey Osborne, DJ Bo Weezy and more.

Legends on the Diamond: A Juneteenth Celebration

Sepia Vernacular Exhibition

Melanin Miami Tour

Location: Historic Black Police Precinct & Courthouse Museum
Explore Miami’s Black history through a guided cultural experience.
Rooted and Rising Juneteenth Celebration

Juneteenth Neighborhood Cookout

Roots Book Fair

The community book festival celebrates Juneteenth while marking the bookstore’s first anniversary.
We Too Sing America Poster Competition

Youth and community artists showcase creative works inspired by Black history and culture.
Voices From the Historic Hampton House Documentary Screening
Time: 5 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Hued Songs: The Juneteenth Experience
Time: 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Location: Miami Beach Bandshell
The acclaimed multidisciplinary production returns with music, spoken word, dance and visual storytelling exploring Black identity and freedom.
In the Paint Exhibition: Movies Under a Simple Tree

We Own the Block: Sip, Shop, Vibe

Joy & Justice: A Juneteenth Sisterhood Trek
Time: 9 a.m.
Location: Overtown
A community-centered wellness and empowerment walk for women.
The Gentlemen’s Stroll
Time: 9 a.m.
Location: Ninth Street Pedestrian Mall
A walking experience celebrating brotherhood, wellness and Black excellence.

Overtown Block Party & Heritage Market
Time: 2 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Location: Dunns Josephine Hotel
One of the weekend’s signature celebrations featuring live music from DJ SelfBorn, food vendors, local businesses, a tribute to Betty Wright and the Overtown Business Association’s Heritage Market.

The Gentleman’s Brunch

Father’s Day brunch celebrating fathers and community.
The King’s Table Father’s Day Dinner
Happy Hour: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.

A Father’s Day dining experience to close out Juneteenth weekend.
Worship in Overtown
Visitors are encouraged to attend services at several historic Black churches throughout Overtown, including Greater Bethel AME Church, St. John Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, A.M. Cohen Temple, Mount Zion Baptist Church and Historic St. Agnes Episcopal Church.

Hued Songs: The Juneteenth Experience

The Broward County presentation of Hued Songs’ signature Juneteenth production explores Black freedom, identity and artistic expression through music, dance and spoken word.
Saturday, June 20
Imagination Unchained Concert
Location: Lauderhill Performing Arts Center
The City of Lauderhill and Next Weekend Productions present the fifth annual celebration featuring live music, poetry, visual art and cultural storytelling. Performers include Marlo Vashti, Cande Rivers and Alexander Star.
The Color Purple
Times: 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Location: Pompano Beach Cultural Center
The South Florida premiere of the acclaimed musical adaptation of Alice Walker’s classic novel opens Juneteenth weekend.
