Hy-Lo News CEO Janey Tate Among Honorees at “Women Who Move the City” Event Highlighting South Florida’s Marketing & Media Mavens

Hy-Lo News CEO and Publisher Janey Tate will be among a group of influential women recognized during a Women’s History Month event celebrating impact, leadership, and community engagement across South Florida.

North Miami Beach Commissioner Daniela Jean is set to honor Tate and several other marketing leaders, media professionals, and digital influencers at the upcoming “Women Who Move the City” recognition, which highlights women who are using their platforms to drive meaningful change.

“These women are not just creating content—they are creating change,” Jean said. “They are building brands, telling stories that matter, and opening doors for the next generation.”

Tate, who leads Hy-Lo News, is being recognized alongside Suzanne McDowell, Jessica Williams, Lamyiah Pearlinia, Wanda Tima, Nicky Wesley, Kechi Okpala, Lasana Smith, and Myaa Passmore. Collectively, the honorees represent a diverse group of storytellers, entrepreneurs, and changemakers shaping narratives and amplifying community voices throughout the region.

According to organizers, the recognition is part of a broader Women’s History Month initiative focused on empowerment, visibility, and legacy-building—particularly for young women looking to make an impact in media, business, and beyond.

In an era where influence is often defined by metrics and social media reach, the “Women Who Move the City” event aims to shift that perspective by spotlighting women whose influence is rooted in tangible community impact.

The event will take place on Monday, March 30, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the YES Center in North Miami Beach.
