Small business owners in Miami-Dade County’s District 4 can apply for grants of up to $3,000 through a program launched by Commissioner Micky Steinberg.
The District 4 Small Business Grant Program, led by the office of the Miami-Dade commissioner, is designed to help local businesses cover operational costs such as equipment, supplies, inventory, marketing and minor renovations, according to information released by the commissioner’s office.
Applications opened March 2 and will be accepted through March 13 at noon.
Grant funding can also be used for commercial liability insurance, security systems and advertising, according to details from Miami-Dade County.
Eligibility requirements
To qualify, businesses must meet several criteria outlined by the commissioner’s office. Applicants must:
- Have been operating for at least one year
- Employ no more than seven employees
- Not be in default or non-compliance with any county loan or grant program
- Not be affiliated with a national chain
- Own no more than two businesses
- Not engage in illegal activity at the business location
Nonprofit organizations are not eligible for the program, though home-based businesses may apply.
Businesses that received the grant in both 2024 and 2025 must wait one year before reapplying and will not be eligible again until 2027, according to program guidelines.
How to apply
Applications must be submitted either by email or in person to the District 4 office.
Completed applications can be emailed to d4sbg@miamidade.gov or delivered to the District 4 office at 2124 NE 123rd St., Suite 201, North Miami.
Only one application per business will be accepted, and incomplete, illegible or faxed submissions will be disqualified, according to the program guidelines.
Businesses that receive funding will also be required to attend a mandatory business training workshop scheduled at a later date.
For more information or to confirm whether a business is located within District 4, applicants can contact the commissioner’s office or visit the district website to access the application.
