Black Violin Foundation Accepting Applications for 5th Annual Grants Supporting Young Musicians

The Black Violin Foundation is currently accepting applications for its fifth annual Grant & Instrument Access Awards, continuing its effort to expand access to music education for young musicians nationwide.

Since its launch, the foundation has invested more than $100,000 in youth musicians, supporting students who often face financial and structural barriers to formal music training. The 2025–2026 cycle builds on that work with an updated grant program aimed at helping young artists develop skills, access instruments, and pursue long-term musical opportunities.

This year’s awards include three distinct grant pathways. The James Miles Musical Innovation Grant supports advanced training and continuing education for young musicians seeking to deepen their craft. The Dreamer All Access Grant is designed to help students grow musically beyond the classroom, while the Dreamer Instrument Access Grant focuses on placing instruments directly into the hands of aspiring musicians who may not otherwise have access.

According to Black Violin Foundation President Anne Sylvester, the milestone year reflects the long-term impact of early investment in young talent.

“Five years in, we’re seeing the ripple effect,” Sylvester said. “Kids who would have never had a chance to train, perform, or even pick up an instrument—now they’re musicians, composers, leaders. This program changes trajectories.”

Applications for the Grant & Instrument Access Awards are now open and will remain available through January 22, 2026. The foundation is encouraging young musicians across the country to apply, while also calling on supporters and arts advocates to contribute financially to help expand the program’s reach in the coming year.

Additional details, including eligibility requirements, age guidelines, and application rules, are available on the Black Violin Foundation’s website at blackviolinfoundation.org.
