The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center (AARLCC) in Fort Lauderdale will host billionaire businessman and philanthropist Robert F. Smith for a special evening exploring leadership inspired by the teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The event, titled Lead Boldly with Robert F. Smith: A Conversation on Leadership Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will take place Thursday, February 12, 2026, at AARLCC, located at 2650 Sistrunk Boulevard. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Germaine Smith-Baugh, CEO of the Urban League of Broward County, and will be followed by a book signing.
Smith—Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Vista Equity Partners—will reflect on lessons from his latest book, Lead Boldly: Seven Principles from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The book examines Dr. King’s most impactful speeches and explores themes like The Beloved Community, Economic Justice, and Two Americas, translating those ideas into actionable guidance for modern leaders.
Released in conjunction with the 62nd anniversary of the March on Washington, Lead Boldly challenges readers to apply Dr. King’s vision of justice and inclusion to today’s leadership landscape.
“The Friends of AARLCC are honored to host Robert F. Smith for this powerful and timely conversation on leadership,” said Luwando Wright, President of the Friends of AARLCC. “His work and life embody the principles of Dr. King, reminding us that courage, compassion, and commitment to equity remain essential to creating lasting change in our communities.”
Dr. Hobbs, Library Manager at AARLCC, added that hosting Smith aligns perfectly with the library’s mission: “His insights on leadership and economic empowerment will inspire meaningful dialogue and encourage all who attend to lead with purpose and integrity.”
The event schedule includes:
