Miami Mayoral Candidates Set to Face Voters at Town Hall Today at 5:30PM in Overtown

The race to lead the City of Miami is heating up, and voters will soon have a front-row seat to hear directly from the candidates. A community-powered Miami Mayoral Candidates Town Hall is scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Jackson’s Soul Food in the heart of Overtown.

The event will be moderated by former Senator Dwight Bullard and Janéy Tate, founder of Hy-Lo News and co-host of That Part Podcast. These two community voices will help guide an important discussion on the issues that matter most to Miami’s residents—from housing and policing to economic development and neighborhood investment.

Eight candidates have confirmed their participation: Christian E. Cevallos, Alyssa Crocker, Kenneth James Desantis, Michael A. Hepburn, Eileen Higgins, Ken Russell, Xavier L. Suarez, and June Savage. This is a non-partisan event, and no endorsements will be made. It’s about giving voters a chance to ask questions, hear plans, and get the clarity they need before heading to the polls.

The town hall is being hosted by a strong coalition of local organizations dedicated to civic engagement and community uplift, including the Overtown Children & Youth Coalition, NAACP Miami-Dade, Just Vote, Florida Rising, Black Men Win Together, Going Overtown, Hy-Lo News, That Part Podcast, and All Like Minds Media.

Jackson’s Soul Food, located at 950 NW 3rd Avenue in Miami, will serve as the backdrop for this crucial civic conversation. All are welcome to attend and engage directly with those seeking to lead the city into its next chapter. For more information, contact miamidadecommunications@gmail.com.
