As families across South Florida prepare for the new school year, AT&T and nonprofit partner Compudopt are stepping in to help close the digital divide for underserved youth. On Saturday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m., the two organizations will team up with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami to distribute 150 refurbished laptops and backpacks filled with school supplies to pre-selected students and families in need.
The back-to-school giveaway will take place at the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami headquarters, located at 550 NW 42nd Ave., and will feature appearances from community leaders and volunteers, including Gale Nelson, President & CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, and Rashad Thomas, AT&T Florida’s Regional Director of External Affairs.
The initiative is part of AT&T’s multi-billion-dollar commitment to help bridge the digital divide by expanding internet access, affordability, and safe usage. Through this national program, AT&T aims to connect 25 million people to high-speed internet by 2030.
