Celebrate the Culture with These Must-Attend Juneteenth Events Happening in South Florida

Juneteenth is more than just a day off—it’s a celebration of freedom, resilience, and Black excellence. And here in South Florida, our communities know how to turn that celebration into something special. From cultural festivals and freedom walks to food, music, and vibes you won’t want to miss, there are plenty of ways to honor the holiday while turning up for the culture. Hy-Lo News has rounded up some of the most dope Juneteenth events happening across South Florida so you can commemorate the day in a way that’s meaningful and lit.

Saturday, June 14th, 2025

2nd Annual Juneteenth Beach Bash | Historic Virginia Key Beach Park | 12pm

The event serves to unite the community in honoring the legacy at a space that was originally the only beach Black people could recreate in Miami. The day will include free food (while supplies last), fun activities such as bounce houses, water slides, crafts and games and an opportunity to learn about the significance of Juneteenth and the park during the civil rights workshop.

Hued Songs The Juneteenth Experience | Parker Playhouse | 7:30pm

This immersive event promises to captivate audiences with a powerful piece of concert theater that weaves together soulful melodies, gospel rhythms, and classical arrangements with spoken word and dance, paying homage to the spirit of liberation and freedom.


Wednesday, June 18th, 2025

Beyond The Game: A Juneteenth Celebration | Liberty Square Recreational Complex | 10am-2pm

The Related Group and Liberty Square will host its annual Juneteenth celebration entitled BEYOND THE GAME; A celebration of South Florida athletes who have made a difference on and off the field/ court. The day will begin with a celebratory press conference, recognition of the athletes, scholarships and summer small business grants awarded. The day will end with a community day full of fun and food at the field across the street.

The immersive experience continues for two more nights (June 18th-19th) of performances that weaves together music, movement, words, and imagery.


Thursday, June 19th, 2025

Juneteenth Celebration | Overtown Optimist Club at Gibson Park | 11am-2pm

This event is community-centered and will feature music, food, games, portraits and raffles —all celebrating the spirit of community and unity. This year’s theme, “Faith. Fortitude. Forward.”, honors both the struggle and the joy in the ongoing journey toward justice and empowerment for our community. 

Juneteenth B.L.A.C Cook Off | Synder Park | 12pm-6pm

Tweety’s Front Porch presents The 3rd annual B.L.A.C (Black Lives Allocating Change) Juneteenth Cook Off, presented by a collaboration of LGBTQ+ black led nonprofits. The free event will include black vendors, food trucks as well as a 12 categories of cook off dishes. 

Chef Jeff Johnson Celebrates Juneteenth & Launches His Debut Cookbook| Coral Gables Books & Books| 7 pm

Books & Books proudly welcomes celebrated chef, culinary innovator, and storyteller Chef Jeff Johnson for an evening celebrating his debut cookbook, Seasonal Roots: Fresh Favorites for Every Season. The event will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 7:00 PM at the Coral Gables Books & Books location (265 Aragon Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134). Coinciding with Juneteenth, this special gathering will honor the rich legacy of African American cuisine, the communal power of food, and the joy of cooking with fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to register at https://bit.ly/chef-jeff-event to secure their spot. Guests can purchase or pre-order the cookbook, sample featured recipes, and receive signed copies of ” Seasonal Roots: Fresh Favorites for Every Season. “


Friday, June 20th, 2025

Destination Juneteenth: A Boots on the Ground Celebration | African American Research Library and Cultural Center | 6pm

The African American Research Library and Cultural Center is preparing for a meaningful Juneteenth ceremony to honor the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Travel the African-American journey to freedom through an enriching cultural experience of lively music, southern food, dancing, story-telling, poetry and celebration of the past and future. Attendees can look forward to engaging discussions about the ongoing fight for justice and equality with MC Traci Cloyd.

The evening will include light refreshments, drinks and a special tribute to Black Cowboys by South Florida Cowboy, Travis T-Dogg Gammage. 

Imagination Unchained: A Celebration of Juneteenth Through Art, Culture, and Black Brilliance | Lauderhill Performing Arts Center| 8 pm

Next Weekend Productions, Inc. (NWP) is set to stage the return of its signature annual Juneteenth Concert Experience on Friday, June 20th, 2025, 8 pm, at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center (3800 NW 11th Pl, Lauderhill, FL 33311). This year’s title, Imagination Unchained: Juneteenth Concert Experience, has expanded its artistic offerings with a visual arts exhibition alongside live performances, immersive music, live brand activations, and community engagement. Frankie Red will serve as the event’s Emcee. Imagination Unchained celebrates the power of Black creativity as a force for liberation, unity, and joy.

Legacy In Black: A Juneteenth Gala | Gulfstream Park | 4pm

City of Miami Gardens Councilwoman Katrina Wilson, Councilman Reggie Leon and Vice Mayor Robert Stephens, III present South Florida’s largest 5th Annual Juneteenth Celebration and Gala where we recognize our culture and freedom. Featuring headliner R&B Group Jagged Edge and performances by Midnight Star, Super Producer Big D & The Band, Mike Smiff, Gia Wyre, Ronnie VOP, and a surprise guest artist to be announced. Battle of the DJ’s with: DJ Nasty 305, DJ Tight, Jammin Joe, and Radio Jamez. Hosted by comedian Marvin Dixon.

Juneteenth Block Party | Lauderhill Performing Arts Center | 12pm-4pm

Vice Mayor Sarai “Ray” Martin and the City of Lauderhill proudly announce the launch of the city’s Inaugural Juneteenth Block Party, a free, family-friendly cultural celebration taking place on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Lauderhill Performing Arts Center Parking Lot located at 3800 NW 11th Place, Lauderhill, FL 33311.

The event will spotlight community unity, Black excellence, cultural pride, and a vibrant showcase of music, food, and entertainment. Performances to include Grind Mode, Black DaDa, Mike Smiff, Michael Sterling and iCandy.

However you choose to celebrate, just know Juneteenth is about more than just good food and live music—it’s about honoring our ancestors, embracing our culture, and continuing the fight for freedom and equality. South Florida is full of spaces this month that uplift our stories, our people, and our power.
