The streets of Little Haiti will come alive this Sunday, June 8, as the City of Miami and District Five Commissioner Christine King host the first-ever Taste of Karnival — a free, family-friendly street festival celebrating the rich cultural roots of Miami’s Caribbean and Latin American communities.
Stretching along NE 2nd Avenue from 55th to 62nd Street, the festival runs from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. and invites residents of all ages to enjoy a day full of live performances, cultural showcases, international food vendors, and artisan crafts. From Haitian toboggan and Guyanese traditions to Jamaican dancehall and Brazilian beats, the event aims to bring the diaspora together in a vibrant display of unity and pride.
“Miami is home to so many beautiful cultures, and this event is a tribute to all of them,” said Commissioner King in a press release. “Taste of Karnival is a love letter to the rhythms, flavors, and soul of our communities.”
The performance lineup features high-energy sets from soca stars Nigel Lewis and Motto, reggae fusion artist Gyptian, and Miami’s own Amara La Negra, bringing her signature Afro-Latina flair. Haitian artists like DJ Tony Mix, Andy Beatz, Koudjay, and Kreyòl La will represent the island’s rich musical traditions, while media personalities Supa Cindy and Papa Keith help host the day’s festivities with DJ Sizwe C spinning throughout the event.
