South Florida, get ready to reclaim your voice.
On Saturday, May 31 at 11:00 a.m., The People’s Meetup will bring unapologetic truth and purpose to the heart of Miami Gardens at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. Hosted by Florida State Senator Shevrin Jones, this powerful town hall is set to spark bold conversations with national leaders Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett and renowned civil rights attorney Ben Crump.
More than a panel discussion, The People’s Meetup is a rallying cry for those who’ve felt overlooked, silenced, or dismissed. This gathering aims to create a space where real talk takes center stage—no filters, no fluff, just truth and the people.

Hy-Lo News is proud to announce that our founder and publisher, Janey Tate, will be one of the moderators guiding the conversation. Known for her fearless journalism and dedication to amplifying the voices of South Florida’s Black and Brown communities, Tate will help lead a discussion that confronts the issues our people face head-on.
Joining her as co-moderator is former State Senator Dwight Bullard, a respected grassroots leader and Senior Policy Advisor at Florida Rising.
This event comes at a critical time as communities continue to demand justice, equitable resources, and true political accountability. The People’s Meetup is a space to not just talk about change—but organize it.
