The Pediatric & Family Health and Wellness Center to Host Inaugural AIDS Walk and Community Resource Fair in Miami Gardens

The Pediatric & Family Health and Wellness Center, part of The Center for Family & Child Enrichment, will host its inaugural AIDS Walk and Community Resource Fair on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex in Miami Gardens. The event aims to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, provide essential resources, and support families affected by the epidemic throughout South Florida.

The walk will feature educational booths, live music, and activities designed to engage and connect the diverse community. Organizers hope to reduce stigma, educate participants, and offer critical health services.

“Participating in the AIDS Walk is not just a step towards raising funds; it’s a vital stride in breaking down the stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS,” said State Rep. Felicia Robinson in a press release, who is also a sponsor for the event. “Together, we can shine a light on the challenges they face and promote a message of compassion and awareness.”

In addition to raising awareness, the event will offer free HIV and STI screenings, ensuring participants have access to vital health resources.

“By ensuring that resources and support are accessible to everyone, we empower individuals to take charge of their health and build a future free from discrimination and fear,” said sponsor and Miami Gardens Vice Mayor Robert Stephen III in a press release.

Participants are encouraged to join as solo walkers or form teams to set fundraising goals, with prizes awarded to top fundraisers. Donations will directly support free health screenings and community involvement incentives, reinforcing the Wellness Center’s mission to make healthcare accessible for all.

Opportunities for Vendors and Sponsors
Local businesses and organizations have the chance to support the cause through sponsorship packages that provide visibility and demonstrate their commitment to community wellness. Health providers, small businesses, and local merchants are also invited to apply as vendors for the Community Resource Fair, which will run alongside the walk.
