An interactive conference to define, build, elevate and sustain middle-class Americans facing economic, housing and health care challenges
OIC of South Florida will host its 2024 Middle Class Summit, a two-day event aimed at addressing the economic challenges facing the middle class and those striving to enter it. Scheduled for October 2-3, 2024, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, the summit will bring together workforce, housing, healthcare, and economic development professionals, as well as policymakers, educators, and community leaders.
The event seeks to identify solutions to the barriers threatening the middle class in America. These challenges have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which worsened financial hardships and highlighted disparities across race, age, and household composition, according to a United Way study. The summit will aim to tackle these issues by fostering discussions with key stakeholders and exploring strategies to alleviate financial pressures on households.

OIC-SFL President and CEO Newton B. Sanon emphasized the significance of the summit, noting, “Many families are already feeling increases at the gas pumps, grocery stores, and certainly as they attempt to find affordable housing here in South Florida and around the country. The objective of our Summit is to identify actionable solutions to these challenges facing the middle class so everyone in our community has the opportunity to reach their potential.”
The summit will feature a diverse lineup of speakers, including Chairman Marcellus W. Osceola Jr. of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, and José Javier Rodriguez, Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration, among others. Discussions will focus on issues such as education disparities, affordable housing, childcare and healthcare costs, and criminal justice reform.
Tickets for the summit are available to the public and can be purchased at www.middleclasssummit.com.
