The City of Miami Pitmasters Competition and Festival makes its inaugural debut this Saturday, April 20th, 2024 at Maurice A. Ferré Park, 1075 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, FL 33132 from 11AM to 7PM. Presented by the City of Miami, this free event is fully sanctioned by the Florida Barbecue Association and is set to become a multicultural marquee event that celebrates the art of barbecue in Miami.
“We are thrilled to host the PitMasters Barbecue Competition and Festival in the City of Miami,” said Mayor Francis Suarez in a press release. “This event celebrates our city’s rich culinary heritage while providing an exciting platform for both amateur and professional pitmasters to showcase their talent. From American Style BBQ to Churrasco, we invite the community and food enthusiasts to join us for mouthwatering barbecue from across the region, family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.”
This year’s competition and festival will offer a wide range of entertainment for the entire family, including musical performances by bands in latin, soul, and jazz like Deep Fried Funk, Dennis Reyes, Son QBA and Nicole Henry. Attendees can also enjoy craft vendors, live cooking demonstrations with barbecue experts, kids fun zone and a People’s Choice VIP Food Tasting Experience to judge team submissions with drinks and light bites.
Proceeds from the City of Miami PitMasters Competition and Festival will benefit the Venture Miami Scholarship Fund. In collaboration with the Miami Foundation, the Venture Miami Scholarship Fund will award City of Miami residents enrolled in STEM programs and provide gap in tuition funding to support residents that are pell grant recipients attending Florida International University, Miami-Dade College, Florida Memorial University and the University of Miami.
