Opinion| Miami Wilds Water Park Will Bring Jobs and Family Fun To South Dade; Why Community Should Support it

By Rev. Dr. Alphonso Jackson, Sr.

This past summer was one of the hottest on record.  A cool, refreshing, well planned water park will give much needed relief from the heat in a fun and friendly environment. The residents of Miami-Dade deserve the opportunity to enjoy quality time with their children, grandchildren and families in this kind of setting.

District 9 has a Commissioner who understands the importance and value of quality family time. Commissioner Kionne McGhee is a real champion of bringing enjoyable activities to his district.  With his support and the support of his colleagues Miami Wilds will be one step closer to becoming a reality.   The vote on Tuesday is not a final vote. It is a vote to allow the project to continue through the process of review by the Federal Government.

The economic impact of the project is significant as it will provide more than 300 jobs to young people, seniors and others in the county.  Miami Wilds will be totally constructed on an existing parking lot at the Zoo.

The Miami Wilds water park was overwhelmingly supported by the voters.

Miami Dade is long overdue for this kind of attraction and Zoo Miami is the perfect location.

Reverend Dr. Alphonso Jackson has been the Senior Pastor/Teacher of Second Baptist Church since October 1, 2000. He leads a congregation of more than 3,200 members whose motto is: “The Church in the Heart of the Community, With the Community at Heart.”
