As $1.2 Billion Bond End Draws Near for Miami-Dade Public Schools; School Board Member Dr. Gallon Speaks on Needing an Audit to Measure Effectiveness in Minority Communities

During a recent Miami-Dade County Public Schools Board meeting, School board member Dr. Steve Gallon III, broke down the importance of why an audit plan is needed to measure the effectiveness of the General Obligation Bond passed in 2012.

If you remember, Miami-Dade County Public Schools greenlit the $1.2 billion GOB to not only repair and improve schools, and boost tech, but it was also supposed to be a commitment to opening doors for minority businesses, with a focus on the African-American community.

Now, as the bond era wraps up, the burning question is whether the district delivered on its pledges. Did the promises to empower minority businesses, especially in the Black community, pan out as advertised? In the clip, Dr. Gallon explains why an audit is needed to answer those crucial questions.
