Miami-Dade Transit to Offer Free Fare from Nov. 13 through Dec. 31 with the Launch of the Better Bus Network

As part of the roll out of Miami-Dade County’s rider-led Better Bus Network, all Miami-Dade Transit modes, including STS and MetroConnect, will be fare-free starting on November 13 through December 31, to ease the transition for riders and encourage new riders to use the new and improved system.

The Better Bus Network includes major improvements to make service more effective, frequent, and reliable, providing quicker connections for residents to major employers, educational institutions, and healthcare providers – in 45 minutes or less.

“If you haven’t had a chance to ride our buses and trains, now is the perfect opportunity,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava in a press release. “Our residents deserve a modern and effective bus system, and we hope to deliver a truly improved transit network that connects them to more opportunity and better quality of life. Together, we’re making Miami-Dade more connected, sustainable and future ready. We encourage everyone, whether you’re a daily commuter or trying transit for the first time, to become familiar with the network enhancements and enjoy the ride on us this holiday season!”

In addition to Metrobus, Metrorail and STS, the County’s newly branded MetroConnect on-demand, shared ride service is included in this free offer and will remain fare-free for the foreseeable future to help riders with last mile connection in expanded zones. Riders can download the MetroConnect app or call 786-321-5842 to sign up and use the service.
