The community came together earlier today to celebrate the opening of the brand new Papa Keith Music & Media Studio at Gwen Cherry Park. The state-of-the-art recording studio is poised to become a creative haven for local youth, offering a space to learn, create, and express themselves through music and media.
Distinguished guests from various organizations, including Guitars Over Guns, Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, iHeartMedia Miami, Papa Keith for People Matter Foundation, and the Gwen Cherry Park Foundation, came together to dedicate the studio, located at 7090 NW 22nd Ave, Miami, FL 33147.
Papa Keith, who has long been an advocate for the park and its services, expressed his excitement about the new studio.
“When we unveil the Papa Keith Music & Media Studio, we’re not just opening doors to a building, but to a haven where creativity, expression, and innovation will harmonize,” said Papa Keith. “My goal is to unite and create a safe community haven for our youth using music. It is important that we do good things in the community.”
The 1,000-square-foot studio, housed in the NFL YET Center within Gwen Cherry Park, boasts industry-standard technology for students to explore and create their own music, podcasts, radio broadcasts, video content, and more. The studio equipment, furniture, and signage were generously donated by iHeartMedia Miami, the home of 103.5 The Beat.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava commended the collaborative efforts that made the studio a reality.
“The Gwen Cherry recording studio is another example of how parks play an integral role in connecting arts and culture through music to our vibrant community,” said Mayor Cava. “I am confident that this new and beautiful facility will quickly become an invaluable cultural resource for our community.”
Gwen Cherry Park, a 38-acre community park in Miami-Dade County Commission District 2, offers a wide range of amenities, and the addition of the Papa Keith Music & Media Studio further enhances the park’s offerings. The park is already home to the state-of-the-art NFL YET Center, a facility that provides various resources to the community.
