Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert, III kicked off his Workday Initiative on Thursday, September 14th at Frederick Douglass Elementary School in Miami.
This new initiative will yield an opportunity for the Chairman to experience the lives of everyday citizens through their roles at work while giving community members exposure to government.
For the first workday initiative, Chairman Gilbert spent a day in the life of a public educator at Frederick Douglass Elementary School. He engaged in a Physical Education activity with fourth grade students and discussed the importance of health and wellness education, an issue the Chairman highlights regularly through his Xercise Daily initiative. Additionally, the Chairman used his experience in public service to administer a lesson on civic engagement with these students in their classroom.
Chairman Gilbert ended the day by gifting the students with book bags filled with school supplies and a visit from the Miami-Dade County mobile library.
