Mark Your Calendar: Juneteenth Celebrations Happening Across South Florida You Should Know About

It’s almost Juneteenth–the day the last enslaved African Americans were informed of their freedom. On June 19th, Black people across the country commemorate Juneteenth by celebrating our resilience through community uplift, education, fellowship, food and entertainment.

We’ve put together a list of events happening in South Florida that celebrate Freedom Day and give you the full Juneteenth experience. Check them out below!

Miami-Dade County

1. Miami Juneteenth Vibe After 5

2. Juneteenth Comedy Show

3. Run/Walk For Education

  • Freedom Lab
  • 6:30AM

The Running Edge is partnering with Mino Learning Lab to host the third annual Juneteenth Day of Service and first #RunForEducation fundraiser. They are promoting healthy habits, battle food insecurity, create community through the arts while empowering Miami’s Historically Black Neighborhoods. Donate and register here.

4. Juneteenth on Broadway

Coalition For Education and Economic Development in association with Kreativ Myndz Events presents Juneteenth on Broadway. Enjoy the soulful sound of live music, and amazing hand-made merchandise from local vendors. , live entertainment, health screenings, instructional dance demonstration, raffles and more! 5. Juneteenth Park-In & Party: Experience in the Gardens

  • Saturday, June 17th, 2023
  • Hard Rock Stadium (Lot 15)
  • Gate opens at 3pm

City of Miami Gardens Vice Mayor Katrina Wilson, Councilman Reggie Leon and Councilman Robert Stephens, III present the 3rd Annual Juneteenth Park-In and Party Celebration under this year’s theme, “Experience in the Gardens”! The Park-In and Party is hosted by Miami Gardens’ own Comedian Marvin Dixon with music by DJ Bo Weezy. Purchase tickets here.

6. The Juneteenth Experience 2023

  • Monday, June 19th, 2023

  • 6:30PM

The Juneteenth Experience is an interdisciplinary performance and celebration of our national holiday, Juneteenth. The performance will feature song, dance, spoken word, and multimedia. ⁠The two-part performance begins at 6:30 PM with the screening of short films by local artists celebrating Black joy and liberation. Broward County

1. City of Tamarac Presents: Juneteenth Celebration

Celebrate Juneteenth, a day that symbolizes the abolition of slavery in the United States of America. Event will include performances by Ashanti Cultural Arts, live music by Motown Magic, food vendors, kids area and much more. 

2. Blk Art Brunch

  • Pompano Beach Cultural Center

The 2023 Black Art Brunch will take place during Juneteenth weekend, with artists featured celebrating one of the most historic holidays in American history. 3. Juneteenth Freedom Day Celebration

2. 2nd Annual Juneteenth Think Tank

Join the 2nd Annual Juneteenth Think Tank & Community Cultural Celebration for a full day of activities planned including a Prayer Breakfast, Juneteenth Cultural Education, Rib Cookoff, Talent Show, and more! 3. The City of Boynton Beach Presents: Juneteenth A Freedom Celebration
