Councilman Robert L. Stephens III announced his bid for a second full term on Monday, April 18, 2022. In his announcement published on his social media account, he pledged to “build a stronger community, create educational programs for our youth and young adults, and establish more resources for seniors and veterans.”
Since claiming Seat 6 in September 2020, the Millennial Councilman established the Miami Gardens Higher Education initiative. This initiative provides financial assistance to college bound high school seniors. Stephens also accomplished great feats by making Miami Gardens an “age friendly” city through a partnership with AARP. Additionally, he created workforce housing, and leveraged a relationship with AT&T to establish Internet for all Miami Gardens.
When asked what voters can expect if he is elected, Councilman Stephens said in statement, “My vision is to move forward together – to strengthen and reinforce the programs that I have started. The heart and soul of this community are the people who live in it. It is my goal to ensure they continue to thrive in the great City of Miami Gardens.”
Councilman Stephens kicks off his election campaign on Friday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Yurumba Restaurant and Lounge, located at 4740 NW 167 Street, Miami Gardens, FL, 33054. Members of the community are welcome to attend the event.
