Miami-Dade and Broward counties will get more than $1.3 billion in federal aid to help fix county airports and public transportation.
The money was provided through the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which President Joe Biden signed in November. Florida transportation agencies will get their share of $18.6 billion in aid for airport, seaports and transit upgrades and repairs.
Miami-Dade County Public Transportation will receive $1.2 billion. Miami International Airport will receive $42 million, and Opa-Locka Executive Airport will receive $295,000. The Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport will receive $32.7 million.
Out of the funding, $17 billion would be available for seaport grants, and $277 million is for discretionary grants for local governments.
