FREE Drive-Thru Dinner Distribution Series Gear Up for Memorial Weekend in Historic Overtown ; More than 400 Dinners served in Inaugural Food Distribution Last Week

The inaugural Drive-Thru Dinner on May 16th showed true community support with over 400 meals distributed. The group who organized the giveaway will team up again. Join Sweet Exchange Miami in partnership with Broken to Inspire, Chef Kulture, Hunny’z Kitchen, The Urban and Kech This Inc. as they provide a free drive-thru dinner cookout for individuals and families affected by Covid-19. The event will take place at The Urban 1000 NW 2nd Avenue, Miami, Fl 33136; on Saturday, May 23, 2020 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

“I was truly overwhelmed with gratitude on the amount of support we received that day. We provided home cooked full-course meals for the culture by the Kulture. Even though we remained physically distant, the community felt us up close and personal”, said Sherronda Daye of the Sweet Exchange.

This week’s menu will be a “cook out” theme to recognize the Memorial Weekend holiday. Meals will be prepped and prepared by the black and brown culinary professional network popularly known as Chef Kulture, Hunny’z Kitchen and Sherronda Daye of the Sweet Exchange. Meals will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis to the Overtown community and participants that pre-register until food has been exhausted.

“We are excited to be able to provide food to the community again despite the fact that much of our work has slowed down from the pandemic. This Drive-Thru Dinner series is a great way to get the people motivated,” said Chef Chad Cherry from Chef Kulture.

The Drive-Thru Dinner Series will take place for 3 consecutive Saturdays starting May 23rd and ending June 6th, 2020.

“The Urban will always support positivity and community building for Overtown. We are happy to be apart in making this happen,” said President of Urban Philanthropies, Philip Bacon.
