State House District 108 Candidate Daphne Campbell Says Experience and Accessibility Remain at the Center of Her Campaign

The former state senator discusses her return to the campaign trail, her legislative record and why she believes House District 108 needs experienced leadership in Tallahassee.

Former State Sen. Daphne Campbell says her decision to run for Florida House District 108 is driven by a continued commitment to serving the community she has represented throughout her career.

During an interview with Hy-Lo News on the Can We Talk Podcast, Campbell reflected on her years in public office, her background as a registered nurse and the priorities she hopes to champion if elected to the Florida House of Representatives.

“I’ve always answered the call to serve,” Campbell said. “Public service has never been about titles. It’s about being there for the people.”

Campbell, who previously served in the Florida House of Representatives and later in the Florida Senate, said her experience gives her a strong understanding of how state government operates and how to advocate effectively for residents in Tallahassee.

Throughout the interview, Campbell emphasized accessibility as one of the defining characteristics of her leadership. She said constituents have always been able to reach her directly and that she plans to maintain that same level of engagement if elected to represent District 108.

“I’ve never closed my doors to the people,” Campbell said. “When residents needed help, they knew they could call me.”

Drawing from her decades of experience as a registered nurse, Campbell said expanding access to quality healthcare remains one of her top priorities. She believes Floridians deserve affordable healthcare and that elected officials should work to improve outcomes for seniors, working families and vulnerable communities.

Campbell also discussed the rising cost of living, saying housing affordability and economic stability continue to be major concerns for residents across District 108. She said state lawmakers must support policies that help families remain in their communities while creating opportunities for small businesses to grow.

Education was another key topic during the interview. Campbell said students deserve access to quality public schools and educators should have the support and resources necessary to prepare children for long-term success.

Throughout the conversation, Campbell pointed to her legislative experience as one of her greatest strengths, highlighting the relationships she built and the work she accomplished while serving in Tallahassee.

“I know how government works,” Campbell said. “I know how to build relationships, and I know how to get things done.”

Campbell also spoke about the importance of advocating for immigrant communities and ensuring every resident feels represented in state government regardless of their background.

Looking ahead, Campbell said she hopes to continue her record of public service by bringing experienced, community-focused leadership back to the Florida House.

“If you’re elected to serve the people, then the people should always come first,” Campbell said.

Voters will decide the Florida House District 108 race during the Aug. 18 election. Campbell said she hopes residents will support a campaign focused on accessibility, experience and delivering meaningful results for the communities of District 108.
