Pompano Beach Art to Host “An Exquisite Weekend” Honoring Black History Through Jazz, Legacy and Cultural Experiences

The City of Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department is inviting residents and visitors to celebrate Black History Month with a three-day lineup of jazz, art and culinary experiences from Feb. 19–21 at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center.

The weekend, curated by Pompano Beach Arts, will feature two nearly sold-out performances — “Jazz Reflections” and “Ladies of Simone: A Tribute to Nina Simone” — along with “Exquisite: A Black Art, Food & Wine Experience,” an immersive event benefiting the Empowering Black Creatives Scholarship Fund, which supports emerging artists in 2026.

“Together, this weekend reflects the City of Pompano Beach’s commitment to honoring Black history not only by remembering the past, but by actively investing in the future of Black art, culture, and creative voices,” Cultural Affairs Director Ty Tabing said in a statement. “From jazz and soul to canvas and cuisine, this is a celebration designed for those who value culture with purpose.”

At the center of the weekend is “Exquisite,” presented by Noir Infusion Arts in partnership with the city’s Cultural Affairs Department. The event will transform the cultural center into a showcase of Black artistic talent, featuring visual art, live music and curated tasting stations led by Black chefs.

Featured visual artists include Loui V, Kenyan Alexander, Symphonii and Tyga B., among others. Performers include April RaQuel and saxophonist Doug McDonald, also known as Mr. Shine in the Dark.

Culinary participants include Barbados-born Chef Paul Griffith, Robinson “Chef Rob” Joseph of Michel’s Catering & Events and Chef Shenike of EatswithShenike, whose offerings will highlight Caribbean and Haitian influences alongside contemporary cuisine.

Noel Johnson, president of Noir Infusion Arts, said in a statement that the organization aims to cultivate and showcase African American artists across South Florida.

“The tri-county area, while rich in diversity, has been underserved in terms of music, visual arts, and theatrical performances reflecting the African American experience and perspective,” Johnson said. “By championing the talents of these artists specifically, we hope to provide them with a platform to express themselves authentically.”

Sponsorship opportunities, artist participation and vendor collaborations remain available, organizers said.
